Upton House and Gardens is a National Trust property in Warwickshire, known for it’s collection of paintings.
In October there will be a special exhibition of works from the Arts Council Collection featuring LS Lowry, John Piper and their contemporaries Duncan Grant, William Scott, Keith Vaughan, John Armstrong, Ivan Hitchens and Prunella Clough.
The exhibition showcases work from eight artists painting between the wars. They all showed their work together once before at an exhibition in 1950 at the Whitechapel Gallery, London. Lord Bearsted, Upton’s owner, was chairman of the gallery at that time and a benefactor to the cause of modern artists.
