Alicia Merrett and Glastonbury Tor – beautiful new piece

Alicia Merrett has the only textile piece in the Open Arts Exhibition about Glastonbury Tor, taking place now at Strode Theatre in Street, Somerset, BA16 0AB, as part of celebrations of their 50th anniversary.

Artists entering had to live or work within sight of this iconic landmark.  Alicia’s piece is an aerial view of the area around and comprising the Tor hill, with its seven terraces and St Michael’s tower on top, and also shows sections of Glastonbury town.  The Vesica Piscis which is marked on the map is a geometrical shape of two circles intersecting in such a way that the the centre of each circle lies on the perimeter of the other. The Vesica Piscis shape has been the subject of mystical speculation in history, and more recently incorporated in New Age thinking.

Until 26th October, open Mon-Fri 10 – 5, Sat 10 – 2, and also on performance evenings. www.strodetheatre.org.uk/whats-on/view/an-exhibition-named-tor/
