Beauty is the First Test: Contemporary Craft and Mathematics

Bilston Gallery

7th September – 2nd November 2013
“Mathematics is often the subject that both adults and children dread most – this exhibition uses contemporary craft to take a fresh look at the fundamental importance of maths in design including visual aesthetics and making processes. Objects in a range of materials with rich colour, pattern, and shape invite us to explore some of the principles of symmetry, geometry and form in an enjoyable and playful way. The show features work by many leading makers including Ann Sutton, Weaver, Michael Brennand-Wood, textiles, mixed media and embroidery, and Peter Randall Page, sculptor.”
