Within its present membership, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters contains a broad collection of stylistic and intellectual approaches that continue to make a significant contribution to the ongoing tradition of portraiture in Britain today.

How to Submit Online

– Artists may upload images of their work(s) online at
Images must be in .jpg format and under 3MB

– The selectors will then pre-select works to be delivered on the Receiving Days to be judged at final selection (Note: Artists should log in to their online account on the specified day to find out if their works have been pre-selected. Works that are pre-selected are NOT automatically accepted for exhibition) *Online Submission is recommended as it enables artists to submit works for consideration without the need to pay for framing or transportation

– After final selection, notification of acceptance will be posted at

– Unaccepted works should be collected on the specified day. Any uncollected work will be sent into storage outside of London by an independent courier company at the artist’s expense

Acceptable Media: Oil, watercolour, acrylic, pastel, pencil, sanguine, conté and any dry medium, includling original prints.

Works must be completed in the past two years
Works must not have been shown in London.

Works do not have to be for sale

Submission Fee: £12 per artwork, £6 per artwork for under 35s

Friday 7 & Saturday 8 March, 10am – 5pm

Open to the public:

Collection of unsold work:
