A last chance to see TOH’s Michala Gyetvai’s exhibition which is on until 13th February. Blog here It’s open on Monday to Friday 9am until 5pm
Michala’s exhibition was wonderful and if you’re nearby I strongly recommend a visit.
I went along to see it a couple of weeks ago in The Michael Heseltine Gallery, Chenderit School (an Arts College) in Middleton Cheaney near Banbury. She’s exhibiting with the sculptor George Wagstaffe, who has major public works on show around the city of Coventry.
It’s difficult to get a sense of scale and colour from photos alone. Michala’s works have great presence and it was wonderful to see so many pieces hanging together. The work is full of colour and vibrancy and stems from her deep love of nature. The stitched blankets are built up with layers of stitch and fibres. The heavy stitching moves the blanket into sculptural forms. Also on show are Michala’s sketchbooks and affordable pastels and prints.
We’re very excited to announce that Michala has agreed to join Through Our Hands at our next exhibition in Bilston (Wolverhampton) in 2015. It’s going to be wonderful!
